67-year-old woman, child rescued during fire at Brooklyn home

NEW YORK, NY – Early Monday morning a fire broke out at a home on 292 East 92 Street in East Flatbush.

When police and firefighters arrived, they found the building fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the FDNY battled the blaze. The fire was reported at around 2:00 am.

During their investigation, NYPD officers learned that two people had been inside the building at the time of the fire.

A 67-year-old woman and an 8-year-old girl were found unconscious and suffering from smoke inhalation.

EMS transported the victims to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County for emergency treatment. The 67-year-old female was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 8-year-old girl remains in stable condition but is being closely monitored by doctors.

The FDNY Fire Marshal is now investigating the cause of the fire, and it remains unclear at this time what triggered the blaze.

The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld until proper family notification has been made.
