73-year-old m a choked and thrown to the ground in violent Williamsburg robbery

BROOKLYN, NY – Detectives from the 90th police precinct in Williamsburg are investigating an assault and robbery against a 73-year-old man Sunday afternoon.

According to police, at around 2:20 pm, the man was assaulted and robbed inside of a residential building in the vicinity of Hooper Street and S. Fifth Street.

The 73-year-old male was approached by an unidentified male who put him in a chokehold and threw him to the ground. The individual then punched the 73-year-old male victim in the head and went through his pockets, removing his wallet from his pocket.

The wallet contained a debit card and $60 dollars. The unidentified male then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim refused medical attention.

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in a video released by the department on Monday.
