SOUTH BOUND BROOK, N.J. – The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of a 22-year-old man named Javier O. Moreno from Bell Street, South Bound Brook. Moreno has been charged with distributing obscene material to a minor and luring a child in South Bound Brook.

According to Prosecutor John P. McDonald, the arrest followed an incident on April 26, 2023, at Maple Avenue Park. South Bound Brook police officers received a report alleging that Javier Moreno had sent explicit photos to a 14-year-old girl. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations/Computer Crimes Unit and the South Bound Brook Police Department launched an investigation.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit interviewed the 14-year-old girl, leading to the discovery that Moreno had indeed sent an obscene photo to her and had attempted to arrange a meeting in South Bound Brook for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Moreno was apprehended without incident in South Bound Brook as a result of the investigation. He has been charged with second-degree luring and third-degree knowingly distributing obscene material to a minor. Moreno is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail, pending a detention hearing.
