Woman injured after during crash with robbery suspect fleeing police in stolen vehicle

Gaithersburg, MD – The Major Crimes Division of the Montgomery County Department of Police is seeking the public’s assistance in locating two suspects involved in a robbery and subsequent vehicle chase that ended in Washington, DC.

In the early hours of Tuesday, May 16, two Black male suspects entered the Dash-In Gas Station located in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Avenue.

One of the suspects indicated he had a firearm and demanded money from the cash register. The store employee complied, and the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

The suspects fled the scene in a stolen white Hyundai Santa Fe, previously reported as stolen from Arlington, VA.

Officers from the 3rd District spotted the Hyundai in the vicinity of New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive. The suspects attempted to evade capture and initiated a pursuit that led into Washington, DC. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed near New Hampshire and Longfellow.

During the crash, a female passenger became trapped inside the Hyundai and had to be extricated by DC Fire Rescue. The two male suspects managed to escape on foot.

The female passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
