Newark Police Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Theft Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a recent auto burglary. The incident, which saw a purse containing $600 stolen from a rental truck, occurred on Sunday.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call about the burglary at approximately 5:00 p.m. in the 400 block of Roseville Avenue. The victim, who was in the process of moving her belongings into a new apartment, left her purse on the front seat of her U-Haul truck. Upon her return, the purse, containing her money and personal belongings, was missing.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video opening the truck’s passenger door, removing the purse, and fleeing the scene on foot in a northbound direction on Roseville Avenue.

The Newark Public Safety Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
