10 Rikers Island Inmates Indicted for Assaults in Jails

BRONX, NY – Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Friday the indictment of 10 inmates for violent attacks in Rikers Island jails.

Four current and six former inmates have been charged with attempted gang assault, second-degree assault, and third-degree assault.

The inmates, including nine alleged Bloods gang members and one other defendant, have been accused of vicious attacks that left four men with severe injuries.

The cases involve a “war” between alleged Bloods and Crips, as well as a brutal attack on a new detainee over a petty dispute.
