Arrest Made in Emmett Street Shooting

SCHENECTADY, NY – Joel J. Persaud, a resident of Schenectady, was arrested on Tuesday, following a shooting incident on Emmett Street. The Schenectady Police Department was dispatched to the area at approximately 8:12 pm after reports of shots being fired.

Persaud is believed to have discharged multiple rounds from a .22 rifle during an argument before fleeing the scene. There were no reported injuries. The Schenectady Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle near Strong Street and Avery Streets and detained Persaud without incident.

Persaud is now facing charges of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree. He is currently being held at the Schenectady County Jail on a pre-arraignment hold.
