Elderly woman found dead on stairs at Queens home

NEW YORK, NY – An elderly woman was found dead near the stairs of her Queens home on Wednesday.

Police arrived to the scene at around 8 pm after receiving a 911 call reporting an unconscious individual at 91-30 91 Street.

Police arrived at the scene and discovered a 78-year-old woman lying unconscious and unresponsive on the ground floor near a set of stairs. The woman had suffered facial trauma.

Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the location and, upon their arrival, pronounced the woman deceased.

The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as Luz Porras, a 78-year-old female who lives at the home.

Detectives are investigating possible foul play, if any in the death of Porras.

The cause of death is yet to be determined, pending examination by the Medical Examiner.
