Upper Merion Officers Arrest Robbery Suspect at hotel

UPPER MERION, PA – On Friday, May 12, 2023, at about 9 am, Upper Merion officers responded to the Hampton Inn for a report of an unwanted person. After speaking with hotel management, they learned that a hotel guest wanted to report a robbery that had occurred.

The victim reported that they had been staying at the Hampton Inn with someone they had recently met. The suspect allegedly became aggressive, produced a handgun, and demanded the victim’s money and cell phone. A struggle ensued before the suspect was able to flee the hotel.

Detectives from the Upper Merion Major Crimes Unit identified the suspect, obtained an arrest warrant, and continued efforts to locate him. On Wednesday, around 9:30 pm, the suspect was spotted and taken into custody at a local convenience store in Abington Township. Two stolen firearms were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle, one of which had been stolen from Upper Merion in 2022.
