86-year-old Man arrested for Murdering Elderly wife in Queens

QUEENS, NY – In an update to an ongoing investigation, detectives with the NYPD’s 102nd Precinct have arrested and charged Ovidio Porras, an 86-year-old male resident of Queens, on Thursday, at around 8:40 pm.

Porras is accused of murdering his wife.

His current charges include murder, tampering with physical evidence, and criminal contempt.

The arrest comes in response to police responding to a 911 call on Wednesday, at about 8:20 pm. The police were called to 91-30 91 Street after reports of an unconscious individual, an elderly woman.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found 78-year-old Luz Porras, unconscious and unresponsive at the bottom of a stairway on the first floor.

Mrs. Porras had suffered visible trauma to the face. Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene, but the woman was pronounced deceased.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will provide a cause of death.
