BOSTON, MA – In the early hours of Saturday, a patrol officer from District B-3 (Mattapan) was involved in an arrest on Morton Street and Norfolk Street. Russell Goodwyn, a 41-year-old Hyde Park resident, was apprehended following a motor vehicle accident which he fled from. Upon conducting a traffic stop, the officer observed a firearm in plain view on the passenger seat of Goodwyn’s vehicle.

Goodwyn was arrested without incident. The firearm, identified as a Polymer 80 with a laser sight attachment, was found loaded with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine. Goodwyn now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, operating a motor vehicle after a suspended license, and marked lanes violation. His arraignment is expected to take place at the Dorchester District Court.
