Newport News Police Department Announces Homicide Arrest

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – On Tuesday, the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) has announced the arrest of Adjascent White, a 25-year-old man from Hampton. White has been charged in connection with a homicide that took place on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in the 4300 block of Newsome Drive.

On arrival, officers discovered the body of Nekaybaw Scott, a 26-year-old woman from Newport News, in her apartment. White has been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was apprehended in Hampton on a subsequent Saturday night.

NNPD has requested that anyone with additional information relevant to the investigation contact them directly.
