Holbrook Couple Charged for Illegal Dumping in Protected Wetland

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Fabio Monasterolo, 51, and Judith Monasterolo, 55, residents of Holbrook, are facing charges of unlawfully disposing broken cinderblocks and concrete in the Town of Brookhaven’s tidal wetlands. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the Town of Brookhaven, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) collectively announced the charges.

The incident happened last Saturday, April 23, 2023, at 2:03 p.m., where the Monasterolos were seen disposing solid waste from their black Dodge Ram pick-up truck. A local resident managed to photograph the event, capturing the Monasterolos at the scene.

After the incident was reported, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Biological, Environmental, and Animal Safety Team (BEAST) initiated an investigation. The Monasterolos were arrested on Monday, May 1, 2023, and subsequently arraigned this Tuesday.
