6-year-old found dead in the Bronx showed signs of physical trauma, police

NEW YORK, NY – A 6-year-old girl was found dead by first responders at a home in the Bronx early Friday morning.

Police received a 911 call at around 4 am, reporting an unconscious female child in apartment at 730 East 165 Street inside the Forest Houses NYCHA complex in the Bronx.

Responding officers found a 6-year-old girl who was unresponsive and unconscious, exhibiting signs of bruising and trauma on her wrists and torso.

Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and transported the young girl to NYC Health & Hospitals/Lincoln.

She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death, and their findings will shed light on the circumstances surrounding this suspicious death.

At present, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

The deceased has been identified as Jalayah Eason.
