High School Student Identified in Murder-Suicide in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville Police Department identified a high school student who fatally shot his girlfriend before inflicting fatal injuries on himself. On Wednesday, at around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to a residence on the 3700 block of Carlos Ave, following reports of a shooting.

Nasir Scott, 18, was transported to the hospital with self-inflicted gunshot wounds, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Tatiana Haywood, also 18 and identified as Scott’s girlfriend, was found deceased at the scene. Haywood was a graduating senior at Douglas Byrd High School and was expected to graduate two weeks from the date of the incident.

One neighbor reported hearing the gunshots, followed by the sound of sirens. The Fayetteville Police Department requests that anyone with information related to this case should contact Detective A.
