TOMS RIVER, NJ – On Tuesday, at approximately 12:30 PM, police were summoned to Route 37 and Hooper Avenue due to a major motor vehicle accident.

As per the initial investigation conducted by Traffic Safety Officer Ryan Fitzgerald, Daniella Ippolitto, a 36-year-old Toms River resident, lost control of her SUV while changing lanes and subsequently crashed into a stopped vehicle at the intersection. Ippolitto’s vehicle continued out of control, colliding with a traffic signal and causing its fall, which resulted in a lane closure on eastbound Route 37.

The sole occupant of the stopped vehicle, a 19-year-old male, sustained minor injuries. Ippolitto was transported to Community Medical Center to receive medical care.

She was issued citations for reckless driving, careless driving, failing to keep right, and failure to maintain her lane. The accident is still under investigation.
