Stabbing leaves one dead, one injured in East village

New York, NY – NYPD detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place Saturday night in Manhattan’s East Village.

At approximately 10:14 p.m., NYPD officers responded to reports of an ongoing assault in front of 381 East 10th Street, located within the jurisdiction of the 9th Precinct. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 31-year-old male victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his body, as well as a 28-year-old male victim with a stab wound to his back.

The 31-year-old victim was transported to Mount Sinai Beth Israel but was pronounced dead a short time late.r He was identified as Michael Gillegbower of Franklin D Roosevelt Dr.

The 28-year-old male victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended by authorities at the scene and subsequently taken into custody.

He was then transported by EMS to NYS Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he remains in stable condition.
