62-year-old subway rider forced to pay thief for his own stolen items

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating a bizarre incident where a man was robbed of his items, the forcibly made to pay the thief to return some of the items.

The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 1:00 pm. A 62-year-old man reported that he left his bag on the platform in the Bronx and boarded a train. The bag contained a cell phone, wallet, an electronic tablet, and headphones. An unknown individual found the bag and demanded cash for its return.

Despite paying the individual approximately $75, the victim only received his cell phone and wallet back.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, approximately 5’8″ tall and weighing around 240 lbs.
