Man Arrested on Assault and DUI Charges in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, MD – John Michael Travis, a 42-year-old resident of Cambridge, was arrested last Sunday following an incident involving a knife. According to the Cambridge Police Department, officers responded to an assault report in the 1200 block of Chestnut Place at around 5:13 pm.

Travis had reportedly threatened an individual with a knife, prompting a high-speed pursuit ending with a traffic stop near Church Creek Rd and Maple Dam Rd. During his arrest, Travis showed signs of alcohol intoxication. Officers discovered a large quantity of knives and a replica Sig Sauer 9mm handgun, revealed to be a BB Gun, in his possession.

Travis failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and was charged with several offences, including first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and various DUI-related charges. He was transported to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond.
