Man Charged with Fatal Stabbing in District Heights

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD – Aaron Bynum, a 33-year-old man from District Heights, is in custody following a fatal stabbing incident that occurred on Friday. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged Bynum with the murder of 63-year-old Anthony Cunningham, also of District Heights.

The incident took place at around 6:25 pm in an apartment building on the 2100 block of Brooks Drive. Police arrived at the scene to find Bynum in the lobby holding a sword. Officers managed to disarm Bynum without further incident. The victim was found with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The exact motive is still unclear. Preliminary findings indicate both the suspect and victim resided in the same building, although it is not yet determined whether they were acquainted. Bynum is currently held by the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status, facing first and second-degree murder charges.
