Traffic Stop Results in Firearm Recovery and Arrest

DORCHESTER, MA – Early Friday, officers from the Boston Police Department operating in Roxbury conducted a traffic stop on Columbia Road in Dorchester. This led to the arrest of 19-year-old Malachi Smith of Roxbury.

Smith was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that he was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. A loaded Smith & Wesson SD40 firearm was found in the vehicle. Smith now faces charges of Operating after Revocation/Suspension, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

He is expected to appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment.
