Man shot and killed early Sunday morning in Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY – Early Sunday morning, officers from the NYPD responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting incident at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Wortman Avenue in Brooklyn.

Police arrived at the scene to find a 33-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. Immediate medical attention was provided by EMS, who transported the victim to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.

The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as Tjine Hemans, a 33-year-old male residing of 175 Street in Queens.

During the initial stages of the investigation, a person of interest was apprehended by law enforcement. A firearm believed to be related to the incident was also recovered.
