NYPD captain found drunk, passed out behind the wheel of police car

New York City – Captain Jared Badillo, the commanding officer of a Brooklyn NYPD precinct, was apprehended by the police for driving under the influence after being found asleep behind the wheel of his NYPD vehicle.

During the arrest, officers discovered a partially consumed bottle of vodka in the backseat of the car.

The arrest occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Friday when officers came across Captain Jared Badillo stopped at a red light on E. 14th St. in Manhattan. The officers noticed that he was in an unconscious state inside his department vehicle, prompting them to approach and conduct an investigation.

They found a half-empty bottle of vodka in the backseat of the car, further reinforcing their suspicion of drunk driving.

Captain Jared Badillo, who holds a senior position within the NYPD, was taken into custody by his fellow officers, and he now faces charges of DWI, a serious offense under New York state law.

Badillo served as a police officer since 2006 and had a flawless service record until this incident. He is the captain of the 69th Precinct and earns $179,000 per year.
