Rockville Man Strikes Gold with $50K Win on Scratch-off

BALTIMORE, MD- A vigilant Rockville resident, always on the lookout for new Lottery scratch-offs, had just completed his grocery shopping at a local Food Lion store when his eyes landed on the recently introduced Hot 7s Tripler game.

Preferring to be called “Greg” for the purposes of his big win, the anonymous player revealed that he had won small prizes over the years and decided to try his luck with a game that had “hot” in its title. Intrigued, he purchased two $5 Hot 7s Tripler scratch-off tickets. The game had debuted on May 22 and still had all eight top prizes up for grabs.

Stunned by his discovery of a $50,000 top prize, Greg wasted no time and immediately took the scratch-off to a nearby Lottery retailer to have it scanned to confirm his win.

The Hot 7s Tripler is part of the “Hot” family of scratch-offs, which includes games like the $1 Hot 7s, $2 Hot 7s Doubler, $3 Red Hot Cash, $10 Hot 7s Multiplier, and $20 Hot 777. Additionally, Food Lion #1661, the fortunate Lottery retailer where Greg made his purchase, is also a winner.

As a gesture of appreciation for selling the $50,000 top-prize-winning scratch-off, the store located at 845 Rockville Pike in Rockville will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
