Suffolk County Murder Suspect Arrested in Florida

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Joseph Scalafani, suspected of the May 20 murder of Alex Smith in Mastic Beach, has been apprehended. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest outside 4700 Gulf Blvd. in St. Pete Beach on Saturday.

Scalafani, a 32-year-old resident of Mastic Beach, is expected to return to Suffolk County following an extradition hearing.
