Off duty police officer makes arrest in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On Saturday, Atlantic City Police Department apprehended Yahsin Cheeks, a wanted man involved in a shooting incident from 2022. After receiving a tip-off, off-duty Detective Eric Evans provided Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan with Cheeks’ location and description.

After a brief pursuit and struggle, Cheeks was arrested. A discarded satchel found at the scene contained a loaded handgun.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations Atlantic City Resident Agency provided assistance with the investigation.

Charges against Cheeks include two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful weapon possession, and resisting arrest among others.
