Centereach Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Binding and Killing 16-year-old

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – On Thursday, District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney reported that 20-year-old John Mann IV, from Centereach, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the fatal assault on 16-year-old Henry Hernandez of Hempstead, whose remains were found in March 2020.

According to Mann’s confession during his guilty plea, on March 15, 2020, Hernandez’s skeletal remains, bound and wrapped in duct tape, were discovered on a neighboring property.

Mann lured Hernandez to a location known as the “Sand Pit” on June 2, 2019, where he bound him, struck him multiple times, and concealed his body.

Mann pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence on March 17, 2023, and was sentenced today.
