12-year-old charged for smash and grab commercial robbery

BOSTON, MA – Early on Friday, the Boston Police Department’s District A-1 unit responded to an alarm from the Blue Moon Smoke Shop at 145 Tremont Street.

The front door of the store showed signs of forced entry, with cracked glass and cement rocks found at the scene.

On entering, officers found two juvenile males filling their backpacks with goods. They were identified as a 14-year-old from Dorchester and a 12-year-old from South Boston.

Store surveillance footage and the discovered merchandise, worth around $1,000, provided evidence for the arrest. Both boys are facing charges for breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony. Their cases are due to be heard at the Boston Juvenile Court.
