Gay man targeted in Home Invasion Assault and Robbery in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying a male suspect involved in a home invasion that occurred on Thursday, May 18.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., a male victim invited the suspect, whom he had met on a dating website, to his home in the 200 block of Shephard Avenue.

The suspect left after visiting for only a few minutes but returned soon after with two other suspects. The trio proceeded to rob and assault the victim, taking his wallet and other personal belongings.

The primary suspect is described as a Black male, 5’8″ tall with a thin build, dark complexion, and a slight beard. He was last seen wearing a black hat, a black and white jacket, and black and white sneakers. Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s assistance in quickly identifying this suspect.
