FDNY reports one dead in fatal Bronx fire

NEW YORK, NY – A fire broke out after midnight at a residence in the Bronx on Sunday.

At approximately 12:48 am, police received a 911 call reporting a residential fire at 1408 Webster Avenue in the Bronx. The New York City Fire Department responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

A 59-year-old woman was discovered inside the apartment. Emergency Medical Services transported her to BronxCare Health System Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

As of now, there have been no other reported injuries resulting from the incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will be investigated by an FDNY Fire Marshal. Authorities are actively conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
