NYPD investigating attempted Rape aboard subway train near City Hall

NEW YORK, NY – Police in New York City are working an attempted rape case that happened on a subway train just two blocks from City Hall Friday night, in lower Manhattan.

At approximately 9:10 pm, an unknown male approached a 29-year-old female victim aboard a southbound MTA ‘J’ train at the Chambers Street station.

The suspect approached the victim with his penis exposed, attempting to force her to engage in oral sex.

Without provocation, he assaulted the victim, striking her and forcefully pinning her to the ground while making an attempt to remove her clothing. During the altercation, the suspect forcibly took the victim’s cell phone, money, and keys.

The victim managed to escape to safety by fleeing the train, while the suspect remained on board as the train continued its southbound route.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The sought-after individual is described as a male with a dark complexion, aged between 30-40 years old, standing approximately 5’6”-5’7” tall. At the time of the incident, he was last seen wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and pants, black and white sneakers, and a white face mask.
