Glory fire will continue to smolder until next rain, Forest Fire Service

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – The forest fire in Jackson near the intersection of Cedar Swamp Road and East Commodore Boulevard has been fully contained, but flareups and smoldering are expected until the next rain.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has dubbed the fire “Glory’s Fire” and has station personnel to remain on site due to the dry conditions. On Sunday, a crew continued to work the area to make sure all flareups were quickly handled.

Due to the increase in fires, the agency had to get additional equipment from the New Jersey Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Risk of fire in New Jersey is high as the region has had little to no rain over the past month.
