BALTIMORE, MD- A 65-year-old Baltimore resident recently struck luck when he won $50,000 in the Pick 5 lottery game. The winner, who does not rely on specific numbers, stated that he chooses whatever comes to mind when purchasing his $1 straight-bet ticket.

The fortunate player stopped by Erdman Liquors at 3931 Erdman Avenue in Baltimore to purchase multiple lottery games, including a ticket for the midday drawing in Pick 5, which happens to be his favorite game.

Using the Maryland Lottery App on his phone, the winner reviewed his games and was taken aback when he saw the winning numbers. He recounted, “I was blown away when I saw those numbers. I checked it three or four times to see if it was real.”

Indeed, his big win was very much real. Since he had placed a $1 straight bet, he secured the game’s $50,000 prize. The winner shared the exciting news with his mother, who confirmed the win once more before safely storing the winning ticket in a secure location until he was ready to claim his prize.

With the windfall, the fortunate great-grandfather intends to bolster his retirement fund and pay off some debts. Erdman Liquors, the lucky Baltimore City retailer where he purchased the ticket, is also celebrating. The store will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery as recognition for their role in the significant win.
