Former High School Choir Director Sentenced for Indecent Assault

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Joseph Ohrt, the former choir director at Central Bucks West High School, was sentenced on Monday, to a term of 2 ½ to 5 years in state prison.

Ohrt, 57, was charged for indecently assaulting two former students and for filming another student undressing. In October, he pled no contest to two counts each of indecent assault, corruption of minors, invasion of privacy, and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

The victims provided statements during sentencing, expressing the severe impact of Ohrt’s actions on their lives.

Judge Jeffrey L. Finley sentenced Ohrt in the aggravated range, mentioning the lasting effects on the victims and the wider community. In addition to the prison term, Ohrt is also sentenced to five years of probation and required to undergo sexual offender treatment and a mental health evaluation. As part of his plea, Ohrt is required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
