Police investigating LGBTQ bias assault in Diamond District

New York City, NY – The New York City Police Department is actively investigating a hate crime incident that occurred on Wednesday, May 31, in front of 611 5th Avenue.

The victim, a 27-year-old female, was involved in a dispute with an unknown individual, during which the perpetrator made derogatory anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks and spat in the victim’s face. Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained during the incident.

According to law enforcement officials, the altercation took place at approximately 5:55 p.m. on May 31st. The suspect, described as a male aged between 30 to 40 years old, fled the scene heading northbound on 6th Avenue using a pedicab bicycle.

The individual was last seen wearing a navy-blue polo shirt, dark-colored jeans, and black shoes. A detailed description of the suspect has been provided to aid in the investigation.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force has taken charge of the case and is diligently working to identify and apprehend the alleged suspect.
