Man Arrested Following Fatal Shooting in Robeson County

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. – A manhunt that spanned five hours concluded on Friday with the arrest of Lakota Hunt, a 27-year-old man from Lumberton, accused of a fatal shooting. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office reported that at around 6:55 a.m., they were alerted to an incident at the 7000 block of NC Highway 904.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered John Casey Caulder, 30, dead in a passenger van.

Charges against Hunt include first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.

Following the shooting, it is alleged that Hunt fled the scene and was located several miles away with the help of a state highway patrol helicopter, sheriff’s office K-9, and several deputies. Hunt is currently held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
