Fatal Shooting Reported at Rochester Residential Building

ROCHESTER, NY – An early morning shooting incident on Wednesday, led to a Rochester resident’s death and another individual sustaining injuries. Officers were initially called to the area of Lyell Ave. and Myrtle St. at around 3:30 a.m., following a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his torso. He was promptly transported to URMC, where his condition is currently listed as stable. While at the location, officers were directed to 470 Lyell Ave., a multi-unit boarding house with numerous apartments.

In the 2nd floor hallway, they discovered another male in his 40’s, also suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim, a resident of the building, was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody. The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
