Off-Duty Officer Involved in Fatal High-Speed Pursuit in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – A fatal vehicle crash that occurred in Springfield Township, Burlington County, is under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.

The incident involved an off-duty member of the New Jersey State Police in an unmarked police vehicle, who was following an individual on a motorcycle at high speeds, at times exceeding 100 miles per hour. The motorcyclist collided with an unrelated civilian vehicle, resulting in his death.

During a portion of the incident, a Springfield Police officer was in pursuit of the unmarked State Police vehicle.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 206 and Jacksonville-Jobstown Road in Springfield Township on Tuesday, just after 4:50 p.m.

The identities of the deceased and the other individuals involved are not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
