SCHENECTADY, NY – The local police department has become aware of a scam in which an individual falsely claims to work for the Schenectady Police Department.
The perpetrator even goes as far as using the name of an active officer to try to engage people in conversation about a fabricated “legal matter”.
Recipients are then given a phone number to call back, which is not associated with the Schenectady Police Department. The origin of these calls is currently under investigation.
