84-Year-Old Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Doylestown

DOYLESTOWN, PA – On Wednesday, Anthony Caulfield, an 84-year-old Doylestown resident, was arraigned on charges related to the fatal hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist in January.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department charged Caulfield with a felony count of accidents involving death or personal injury, misdemeanor counts of possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person, along with three summary traffic violations.

The incident occurred in front of 229 N. Broad St., Doylestown on Friday, Jan. 6, just after 3 p.m.

The bicyclist, identified as 64-year-old Francis Patrick Montgomery, was provided medical care at the scene before Central Bucks EMS arrived. Montgomery succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, Feb. 9.
