NEW YORK, NY – Police in New York City responded to a disturbing situation in Manhattan when they confronted a distraught man armed with a pair of scissors, who was holding them to his neck and stabbing himself repeatedly.

The incident happened at the intersection of West 40th Street and 6th Avenue. Police attempted to intervene, with an officer trying to knock the suspect to the ground, unsuccessfully.

The man continued stabbing himself in the neck repeatedly and would not obey officers’ commands to drop the weapon.

As blood poured from the man’s neck, an officer used his taser to take him down before multiple officers subdued him and arrested him.

A pool of blood surrounded the man. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition, but his current status is unknown.
