Man charged for recklessly discharging firearm

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – A 37-year-old individual has been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment following a shooting incident in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane. The incident took place on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

At approximately 2:24 a.m., officers from the 3rd District were conducting a routine traffic stop in the vicinity of New Hampshire Avenue and Oakview Lane when they heard gunshots coming from the nearby area.

Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male was recklessly firing a handgun with an extended magazine in a residential parking lot located in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

After thorough detective work, the suspect was identified as Ryan Omar Lackonsingh. Law enforcement authorities were able to locate Lackonsingh and, following negotiations, he surrendered himself without incident. Subsequently, he was taken into custody.

Lackonsingh was then transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with reckless endangerment. Additional charges related to the possession of firearms are pending against him.
