Two charged for murder of man in East New York

NEW YORK, NY – The NYPD is investigating a deadly shooting in East New York that left one man dead Wednesday evening.

At around 5:44 PM, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in front of 823 Ashford Street.

Upon their arrival, authorities discovered a lifeless 40-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim, identified as Dennis Morgan, deceased.

An extensive investigation into the incident was launched, leading to significant developments. On Saturday, Joseph Black, 39, was arrested and is now facing charges of murder, manslaughter, gang assault (2 counts), and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the incident.

Crystal Smith, 38, was also apprehended on Thursday and has been charged with manslaughter and gang assault (2 counts) related to the homicide investigation.
