Body found floating in East River near South Street Pier

NEW YORK, NY – Police found a body of a man floating in the East River near a pier on South Street on Monday.

At around 4:08 PM, the police received emergency calls reporting an unconscious male in the water near South Street just off Pier 35 in New York City’s Lower East Side.

Multiple units from the NYPD 7th Precinct and FDNY promptly responded to the scene.

The NYPD’s Harbor Unit successfully retrieved the adult male from the water, and emergency medical services transported him to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation into the incident is currently underway.
