ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department has charged 38-year-old Atlantic City resident, Tyler Smith, with attempted murder following the stabbing of an 18-year-old man from Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The incident happened on Monday, around 6:16 PM on the 1600 block of Adriatic Avenue.

Patrol officers, including Officer Zayon Pitts, responded to the scene. The victim was found with a serious neck injury but was stabilized by the Atlantic City Police and later transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.

Initial investigations suggest the victim was targeted due to his race. Smith was identified from a photograph obtained by Surveillance Center personnel and his wallet, which he had dropped during an altercation with onlookers. Officer Latray Butcher apprehended Smith without incident at the medical center later that evening. Smith is currently held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, facing several charges.
