Arrest Made in Connection with Fatal 7-Eleven Double Shooting

NORFOLK, VA – Homicide detectives made an arrest in connection with a fatal double shooting at a 7-Eleven store on W. 26th Street. The incident, which took place on May 11, resulted in the death of one man and injury of another.

Upon responding to a gunshot disturbance at 1088 W. 26th Street around 11:40 p.m., officers found a 22-year-old and a 25-year-old man with serious gunshot injuries. The older victim, Walter E. Painter, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following investigations, 25-year-old Jalen White-Kennedy was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was arrested on Thursday, in Norfolk and is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
