Deadly Fireworks Incident in Charles County Kills 20-year-Old Man

CHARLES COUNTY, MD – A home fireworks display turned fatal on the evening of Wednesday, when a 20-year-old man sustained critical injuries from a firework that detonated while in a mortar tube. The incident took place in Bannister Circle, Waldorf.

Despite being transported to Charles Regional Medical Center following the incident, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Deputy State Fire Marshal and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

The State Fire Marshal, while expressing condolences to the victim’s family and friends, also reminded Marylanders to prioritize safety when handling fireworks, encouraging them to attend public displays or, if celebrating privately, to follow safe practices.
