Four Arrested For Shoplifting, Drugs in Newark

NEWARK, DE – Delaware State Police arrested four individuals on Thursday evening for an alleged shoplifting incident in Newark. The suspects were identified as Fatima Bey, 34, Isaiah Smiley, 25, Jerome McCants, 73, and Jerome Tilghman, 41, all from Wilmington, Delaware.

The incident occurred on Thursday, when troopers spotted Bey maneuvering a cart full of goods from the Kohls store on 2800 Pulaski Highway, to a nearby Wawa. The merchandise, later recovered from a bush, was returned to Kohls, its estimated value exceeding $2,800.

Further investigation revealed the presence of crack cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia in the car occupied by the suspects. Fatima Bey and Jerome Tilghman were also found to have arrest warrants, known as capiases, to their names.

All suspects were transported to Troop 2 and were subsequently charged with various offenses, including shoplifting, drug possession, and conspiracy. The Delaware State Police asked anyone with additional information on this incident to reach out.
