NYC Gang Member Sentenced to Life for Rival Gang Member’s Murder

BROOKLYN, NY  – Gymanni Carrington, a 22-year-old member of the Martense Beverly Bosses gang, has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the sentencing on Tuesday, which marks the final resolution of a takedown of a Brooklyn gang charged with reckless disregard for life.

Carrington was convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree conspiracy on June 26, following a bench trial. The charges relate to the murder of Donavan Frazier, a 20-year-old member of the rival Lincoln Fam gang, on September 16, 2017.

Carrington was captured on surveillance video firing into Franklin’s Finest Deli at 790 Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, where Frazier was exiting. The victim was hit once, causing his death. Carrington later claimed responsibility for the murder in recorded phone calls, social media posts, and emails to his mother.

Seventeen co-defendants previously pleaded guilty to various charges, with sentences ranging from one to three years to as many as 13 years in prison.
