NYPD Investigating Violent Robbery of Elderly Woman in Manhattan

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is asking for public assistance to identify an individual connected to an attempted robbery. The incident occurred on July 6, around 03:30 am, near 2 Avenue and East 83 Street.

A 72-year-old female was walking in the area when an unknown individual attempted to take her purse, causing her to fall and get dragged along the ground. The individual fled on foot heading northbound on 3 Avenue when a witness approached. The victim sustained bruising and swelling and was treated on the scene.

The individual being sought is described as a male with a light complexion, last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, dark pants with a white stripe, and black sneakers.
